JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR gets 4 HELEN HAYES NOMS and other Artistic Notes!

LuvDusty is thrilled to see that the production of Jesus Christ Superstar that he choreographed for Open Circle Theatre in D.C., has just received 4 Helen Hayes Award Nominations, including one for Outstanding Resident Musical! All that hard work back in September and October of 2004 has paid off! The Award ceremony will be May 9th at the Warner Theatre, and yes LuvDusty will be there!

On more artistic notes, LuvDusty is currently choreographing what I believe will be a very fun production of The Pajama Game at Lazy Susan Dinner Theatre. The cast is very talented and the direction is once again by that Musical Theatre genius, Hans Bachmann! I love workin' with this guy, because we share similar views on the art form and how it should be presented. I always feel like our work is seemless--hopefully, the audience can't tell where his work ends and mine begins--we share a brain, so to speak. And it's a good thing!

I've also just been asked to choreograph Gypsy for Montgomery Playhouse, a 75 year old theatre company way out in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The commute will be a killer, but it'll be worth it to get to choreograph this classic of American musical theatre!

There is also a chance LuvDusty may get back on stage for the first time in almost 2 years! Ann Behrends, fantastic DC choreographer, has asked me to duet with her in a dance piece she is working on for the upcoming Joy of Motion Dance Festival on April 30 and May 1! It's an honor that Ann asked me and to get to dance with her will be a blast! More info as it comes in!
